Before Lancaster reached its first state championship game last year, the Legends ran roughshod through Section VI, bashing Williamsville North 35-6 to take the Class AA title. These teams play again Friday in Spectrum News' Game of the Week, with the Legends hoping to improve to 3-0.

The Spartans return plenty of firepower from last year's team that reached the section final: Will North features at least seven returning starters on both sides of the ball. Two of those familiar faces, quarterback Joe Nusall and wideout Dylan Kelly, hooked up for a game-winning touchdown in last week's 41-35 overtime win against Clarence. The Spartans totaled 483 yards in that game, and the Legends plan on countering a dynamic offense with a physical defense.

”I think we’re just expecting to go out there and lay the boom on them,” says Lancaster fullback Matt Marschner. “Set the tone early and finish strong.”

"I’ve had this game circled since probably February,” said Lancaster linebacker Conor Mahony. “I’ve been looking forward to this. Can’t wait to get after it.”

Coverage begins at 7 p.m. Friday live on Spectrum News.
