The boil water order for the village of Brocton and the town of Portland has been lifted.

The Chautauqua County Health Department said the order was issued due to a water main break that caused low pressure in several areas. They add that water samples collected on July 1 and July 2 show that the water is safe to drink and use for all other purposes.

"The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services would like to thank all affected water customers for their cooperation and patience while the boil water order was in effect," the Chautauqua County Health Department said in a statement.
