Jamestown residents might notice their water is a little discolored, but they shouldn’t worry.

Work is being done to repair some water main breaks in the city but there are no boil water advisories in place.

A spokesperson for Jamestown’s Board of Public Utilities said the breaks were caused by the earth shifting due to cold weather and hitting the water lines.

Water has to be turned off to repair the water main. When the water is restored after the repair, it rushes in the opposite direction, stirring up any sediment in the lines and bringing discolored water into homes.
