A report released by more than 300 scientists from 13 federal agencies says the world is headed toward irreversible climate change if more serious action isn't taken right away. The researchers conclude that the global temperature continues to rise and at an increasing rate, and that humans are causing it.

Some people in the Trump administration, including the president, are trying to downplay the report's findings.

With Democrats now in control of the House, Congressman Paul Tonko is poised to become chair of the subcommittee on the environment and have the power to draft legislation that would address climate change.
