Melissa Steininger was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, but has called the New York home since she joined the Spectrum News 1 team in June 2018.

Prior to this, Melissa worked as a reporter for WTAJ news in Altoona, Pa. However, Melissa’s first connection to New York began right after becoming a proud graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia. Since then, Melissa is proud to have grown and connected with the community as both an anchor and reporter.

For Melissa, the news is all about sharing the stories of the people in the community and the ability to amplify the countless random acts of kindness that go unnoticed. More so, one of Melissa’s daily goals is to uncover the hidden beauty within the community, while also giving the viewers the information they need to know and holding those in power responsible.

When Melissa isn’t in the newsroom or out in the field, she’s usually catching up with her family and friends. With a passion for storytelling and writing, it’s no surprise that aside from journalism, Melissa is an avid theater-goer. She also loves watching Syracuse basketball. But, sorry Bills fans, Melissa is also a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan.
