U.S. Rep. Antonio Delgado (D-19) held his 13th town hall in Ulster County on Tuesday with contamination high on the list of talking points.
Earlier this month, Delgado helped introduce legislation that would add PFOA chemicals to the toxic release inventory.
The Democratic congressman said it's a step toward holding manufactures who use the chemicals responsible.
"It's so important to show everybody we are continuing to track the release of PFOAs,” Delgado said. “That's why the toxic release inventory would do that. So as private actors are using this chemical, we're better positioned to take proactive steps to undermine their impact, and take measures that would prevent it from getting to a point where individuals are exposed to contamination."
The congressman also announced the opening of an office in Liberty on Tuesday, stressing his commitment to being accessible to all his constituents.
