A two-vehicle crash involving a school bus and a dump truck resulted in the death of the dump truck driver on Thursday morning in Saugerties, police said in a statement.
The incident occurred at around 8:51 a.m. Thursday on Route 9W in the Malden area.
Police responded to the scene and determined the dump truck operator died from injuries suffered in the crash, while the school bus operator received minor injuries and was taken to the Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley in Kingston for treatment, according to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office.
Police on Thursday did not identify the persons involved in the crash.
No school children were traveling on the bus at the time of the crash, police said.
The investigation remains active.
Assisting were members of the New York State Police Crime Collision Reconstruction Unit, the New York State Police, Saugerties police, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Diaz Memorial Ambulance Service, Malden-West Camp Fire Department and Saxton Fire Department.
