Governor Cuomo is calling for the state to investigate an alleged hate crime on a North Country school bus. He wants the New York state Division of Human Rights to look into the incident — which happened earlier this month.

A 10-year-old African American girl suffered from hair loss, a black eye, and a knee injury. In a statement, Cuomo said he was "appalled by the reports of the horrendous 20-minute racist assault."

Three people were arrested in connection with the alleged altercation — including two girls aged 10 and 11, who were charged with second-degree harassment.

The 11-year-old is also facing a charge of third-degree assault as a hate crime.

The bus driver was also charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child because she allegedly did not break up the fight.
