After Planned Parenthood announced on Monday they would withdraw from the Title X federal family planning program, local officials are stepping up to provide funding.

State Senator Jen Metzger secured $13,000 for Planned Parenthood Mid-Hudson Valley. The money is set to go to critical health services and advocacy efforts. Metzger says she hopes to offset some of the lost funding.

"Title X funding comes to NYS and then there's a process organizations use to apply to the state for Title X funding. So for Mid Hudson Valley, if it's based off of 2018, it would be a loss of about $717,000," said Ruth-Ellen Blodgett, Planned Parenthood Mid-Hudson Valley ceo.

Even without federal dollars, the organization will still be able to receive state funding and private donations.
