RALEIGH, N.C. -- The cold front behind our Sunday evening storms continues to slowly track south this morning. The farther we get behind the front the better weather we'll enjoy today.

Drier air behind the front will create a less humid day. Rather than dew points in the upper 60s and low 70s, we'll have a more comfortable setting in the 50s and 60s.
Despite the less humidity, it will still be a very warm day. Highs for many will max out this afternoon in the low to mid 90s. No storms are expected today so just stay cool as we move through a day with a fair amount of sunshine.
High pressure will track offshore to our east tomorrow. This will bring southerly winds to our area, transporting warm and moist air into the state. Highs will jump up into the mid to upper 90s Tuesday afternoon. Dew points will swell back into the 60s and create a toasty heat index. Feel like temperatures may reach the low 100s for portions of the area tomorrow afternoon.
Over the coming days the flow of warm, moist air into our area will also increase our rain chances. Isolated storms will be possible Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. A more scattered rain threat looks possible for Thursday, the 4th of July. Our nation's Independence Day looks hot and soggy. Highs will look to reach the 90s with scattered showers and a few storms possible through the afternoon and early evening. Not saying Thursday will be a wash out, but it's to the point that you need to plan around rainfall potentially impacting a portion of your holiday.
