One person is dead following a two-alarm fire at a duplex in Newburgh.

Flames broke out shortly before midnight on Friday.

When crews arrived a resident from the first floor unit was missing. Firefighters quickly located them but they were already deceased.

Firefighters say it took nearly 30 minutes to knock down the blaze. Three other departments stepped in to help.

The building suffered extensive fire and water damage to both floors, making it unlivable.

The victim has not been identified at this time.
