A temporary ban on building any future fossil fuel power plants passes unanimously in Lloyd last night.

The board voted yes on the resolution, taking advice from the environmental group Scenic Hudson and after seeing support from community members.

The moratorium lasts six months and will suspend any application for the construction of a fossil fuel power plant in the town of Lloyd.

The town board can extend the length the ban for up to four months if they decide they need more time to rework zoning codes for future development.
