A total of 12 people have been arrested and charged with operating a drug ring spanning Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster Counties.

The takedown was dubbed "Operation Candy Crush," after the defendants' nicknaming of prescription pills as "candy" and "Skittles."

The 12 people charged are accused of selling thousands of pills, including oxycodone, Adderall, and valium. If convicted, each defendant could face between eight-and-a-third and 25 years in prison.

One of the defendants, Samantha Vantassel, is also charged with creating a fake Instagram account to post a shooting threat to Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park. She could face up to seven years in prison for this separate indictment.
