A serious car crash is under investigation in Columbia County and the Taconic Hills School District says one of its students was involved.

The crash happened on State Route 23 in Craryville, around 7:40 a.m. Friday.

Deputies say Taconic Hills student Jessica Spencer was trying to turn around when she pulled into the path of an oncoming car. Spencer's car was hit, left the highway and rolled over.

She had to be extricated from her car.

Spencer was airlifted to Albany Med where she was last said to be in critical condition. The driver of the other car was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released.

No passengers were in either vehicle.

A school bus did come across the accident the students on board are being helped by school counselors.
