A business owner from Middletown is laid to rest after he was gunned down at his job late last month. Youbens Joseph is remembered in his obituary as a kind man, dedicated to his family and his Christian faith.

Services were held for him Saturday morning at a church in Spring Valley, where family and friends said their last goodbyes.

November 28, the Clarkstown Police Detective Bureau wrote in a statement that 24-year-old Eric Hue Ross, Jr. from Wilmington, Delaware, was arrested for the shooting death of Joseph.

Ross was taken into custody after what the Clarkston Police Department called an "exhaustive" five-day investigation.

"Youbens was a very kind and loving guy," said Keren, Joseph's wife, with tears in her eyes and surrounded by cameras after a press conference last month. "He loved his family so much."

At Joseph's car dealership, Youbs Auto Sales in West Nyack, police say the two men fell into a dispute which led to the shooting. They say Ross bought a Sonata from Joseph — the same Sonata seen leaving the dealership on surveillance camera.

The car was traced to a Kohls department store near Quakertown, Pennsylvania, according to Clarkstown PD. Ross was arrested 11 hours after the shooting incident at the home of one of his relatives, stated the police.

Joseph received three rounds in his torso before succombing to his wounds in the hospital.

"Yes, I’m happy that justice was served. I thank the police for their hard work," said Keren.

In addition to Keren, Joseph leaves behind his three children.

"Everytime [Ross] came through the office he would always say that he couldn't pay and stuff like that," Joseph's son Kherbens, 14, said.

Kherbens continued, "[Joseph said to] always to love each other because we're on this earth to care for each other, and not to be selfish."

Dawn Cudak, a friend of Joseph, lit a candle at the dealership on Monday, in tribute to her friend.

"I was close to him; he was one of my male best friends. This is hard," said Cudak.

"Really? Over a car? It's just not fair; this world needs to change. Someone needs to change this world," said Cudak.

She continued, "My heart is broken. My heart is broken for the family, he was a good man," said Cudak.

Cudak says Joseph has many friends and family members who will miss him.

Ross Junior was charged with second-degree murder. Officials are waiting for him to be extradicted to New York to face charges.

Ross is also facing a felony firearm charge, and does not have an extensive criminal history. He also has ties to the lower Hudson Valley, since he used to attend college in the area.
