SUNY New Paltz President Donald Christian has joined the charge to rename certain buildings on campus.

On Friday, Christian recommended that the names on the Hasbrouck Buildings be removed and replaced. The buildings in that complex are named for historic Huguenot settlers in the region who were slave owners.

The president says the call to have the buildings renamed comes after a review from the Diversity and Inclusion Council. The College Council and SUNY Board of Trustees must vote to rename buildings on campus.
