NEW PALTZ, N.Y. -- Hundreds of protesters crowded SUNY New Paltz Monday at a "Not My President’s Day" rally to speak out against President Donald Trump.

"He continues to act as if he’s still running for office, and he’s not looking to build any bridges and unite people together,” said Move Forward New York Founder Debra Clinton.

The rally was hosted by Move Forward New York and the New Paltz Chapter of United University Professions. Kids at the rally knocked down a symbolic wall made out of cardboard boxes to protest Trump’s proposed border wall with Mexico.

"This idea of walls between countries and not letting immigrants in and every single aspect of that is just absolutely anti-American,” said rally organizer Glenn Geher.

Protesters said they were hopeful the rally and others that have been happening around the world will continue to inspire people to stick up for what they believe in.

"Personally, I would love to see more people feeling more and more encouraged to get engaged with the political process," said United University Professions - New Paltz Chapter President Beth Wilson.
