SAUGERTIES, N.Y. -- There's something for everyone at the Hudson Valley Garlic Fest, as long as you like garlic, of course.

"It's actually really amazing. I love food. I'm obsessed with food. So I'd say it's perfect."

"I'm making popcorn," said one vendor.

"Garlic Jams, vinegar," said another vendor. "Then of course we eat garlic pizza, knots."

"Vanilla ice cream, just with a little bit more, like salt, but with a little bit of bitterness, it tasted great," said one person brave enough to try garlic ice cream.

While the garlic ice cream stand saw big lines all day Saturday, other spots also proved to be very popular as well, like garlic corn on the cob.

"Awesome, so tender."

And garlic donuts.

"We came up with the idea of we would make a cider donut, with deep-fried garlic on it, top it with the caramelized onions, and roasted garlic, and serve it on a plate," said Patience Thomas, owner of Great Cape Bakery.

The annual event has come a long way from its small beginnings nearly three decades ago.

"The festival was started 28 years ago on a small farm here in Saugerties, and then it's grown to a two-day event," said Beth Bechtold, Publicy chair of the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival.

Bringing in people from all over the world.

"We've had people here from the Philippines, from Australia that have signed in at our visitors booth in past years," said Bechtold. "Over the two days we'll see between 30,000 to 35,000 people."

And if you're wondering, can there ever be too much garlic?

"Oh, no. No, no, no, no," said one festival goer. "That's a food I cannot get sick of. Nope. It goes good with everything."
