DURHAM – Two candidates are participating in a public forum Wednesday night in hopes of becoming Durham’s next police chief.

Michael Smathers is a major with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, and Cerelyn Davis is a Deputy Chief with the Atlanta Police Department.

They will tackle various topics such as body cameras, immigration and crime during the forum.

Smathers and Davis will also address racism, as it is one of the biggest issues facing the department.

The forum will be at Durham City Hall at 7 p.m.
