The man accused of stabbing another man to death in the Village of Monroe pled not guilty in court Thursday. With his head hung low, as he stood before a judge, Samuel Del Cid Hernandez entered his plea.

He is accused of killing 25-year-old Louis Rivera in the hallway of Rivera's apartment, while the pair were drinking back in October.

Prosecutors say during a party Hernandez got into a fight, when Rivera tried to leave the apartment Hernandez followed him, and then stabbed him several times with a kitchen knife.

Hernandez remains in jail until his next court appearance on February 7.

Last month, officials said words were exchanged between the pair and Rivera later got into a fight with someone else at the party. Police were called after the stabbing and found Rivera inside hours later.
