Seth Lyons has been sentenced 25 years to life in prison for the murder of Anthony Garro Jr

On September 27, a jury found Lyons guilty of second-degree murder for beating Garro Jr. to death in November 2017 and leaving him under a bridge in Kingston.

The DA's office says Garro was discovered under the Elmendorf Street Bridge, and authorities arrested Lyons the same day. Lyons had pleaded not guilty.

His attorneys argued he had been going through an extreme emotional disturbance, citing factors such as mental illness and drug abuse, according to the DA's office. The jury rejected that defense after a less-than seven-hour deliberation.
