Lake-effect snow showers and squalls have made the Monday morning commute less than ideal.

What You Need To Know

  • Lake-effect snow has created snowy roads and areas of tough travel

  • The most persistent snow will produce another 1 to 4 inches of accumulation

  • You'll want to be dressed for single digits and subzero wind chills

Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect as the concern for snow-covered roads and reduced visibility continues.

Even though we won't be in the clear Monday afternoon, snow shower activity should become less organized. In turn, this will limit additional snow accumulation.

Areas southeast of Lake Ontario could pick up another 1 to 3 inches of snow with another 2 to 4 inches of snow possible south of Buffalo.

Winds will gust up to 35 mph Monday which will create areas of blowing snow and rather frigid wind chills.

If you don't need extra time to get around because of the snow, you may still want a few extra minutes to get the car warmed up.

Single-digit and sub-zero wind chills Monday morning won't improve much for the afternoon.

Highs in the teens and 20s will be made to feel more like the single digits to near 10 degrees at best.

Lake-effect snow showers are expected to linger into Tuesday before finally tapering.

Our attention will then turn to a more spring-like warmup taking place later this week!
