Any snow showers or flurries will taper overnight and Thursday morning with lows ranging from the -10s to +10s. Thursday is shaping up to be partly sunny and colder with highs generally in the 10s and 20s.

A new system is set to arrive Thursday night and an areawide light-moderate snow will develop before moving out on Friday. This will result in modest snow accumulations of a trace to 3 or 4 inches locally. Fortunately, temperatures look a little better as we wrap up the week with highs in the 20s and 30s.

A system that could prove to be more problematic is one that is on track to arrive this weekend. The potential exists for widespread heavy snow Saturday night into Sunday. This could end up being a high impact event with several inches of accumulation so make sure you continue to monitor the forecast in the days ahead as we get more information.

To go with the snow, a blast of arctic air is expected as brutal sub-zero wind chills develop Sunday and Monday.
