As winter break reaches New York schools, some families could be looking to travel to warmer climates.
The Federal Aviation Administration is anticipating one of the busiest travel times of the year and wants travelers to expect more crowded airports in the coming days.
Thursday was forecast by the FAA as the busiest travel day for the holiday with an anticipated 47,780 travelers in the air. Today, more than 46,000 are expected to fly; that number drops to about 37,00 on Saturday, with 44,700 anticipated on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
"Bring something to do. Keep yourself busy,” said Jason Riedman, heading to Orlando. “You know, [my son has] got a Nintendo Switch, some cards, some stuff on your phone. Anything to do to pass the time."
It’s recommended that you arrive two hours prior to your departure in order to make TSA checks and boarding go smoother. Aside from the de-icing of planes, no delays were anticipated Friday morning for most state airports.
