King Center Charter School students were treated to a holiday dinner with one of the Sabres’ star players Wednesday night.

Forward Evander Kane hosted a dinner for more than 50 kids at Tempo Restaurant, including members of Hasek’s Heroes, a program that introduces young players to hockey free of cost.

He has invited groups of kids to dinner around Christmas before, but said this year he wanted to do something a little different, giving them an upscale restaurant experience.

The Vancouver native says he looks forward to events like this.

Kane is also doing well on the ice.

He leads the Sabres in goals with 14 on the season. The Sabres will host the Philadelphia Flyers at KeyBank Center Friday night.
