Festival season is officially upon downtown Syracuse.
The Syracuse Crawfish Festival will take place Saturday in Clinton Square, with proceeds going toward the non-profit Operation Northern Comfort.
The event will once again feature Cajun-style foods imported fresh, ranging from crawfish to shrimp. You'll also find at least a few dozen vendors and crafters along with live music through the day.
Last year, the event was held only as a grab-and-go event because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers said it'll be a pleasant sight to see people again.
"We're super excited to see everybody," said Operation Northern Comfort CEO Laurel Flanagan. "This year, we're not just coming out of a long, cold winter, we're coming out of a really long period of isolation, so it's a really good opportunity to get together with your friends and neighbors and hear some really fantastic music and celebrate."
Operation Northern Comfort originally formed to help communities recover from Hurricane Katrina. Volunteers with the group are currently building bookshelves for kids and rebuilding a home for refugees in Syracuse.
There is no admission cost, but there is a cost for food.
The Crawfish Festival will take place from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday. You can expect to find some street closures in and around Clinton Square around 7 a.m.
