With a hint of fall this weekend, it was the perfect time for New Yorker’s to enjoy their favorite aspects of the season. In Central New York, that means taking advantage of the state’s famous apples.

Crowds packed local orchards for a chance to get their hands on the tasty fruit, with a chance of either eating them raw or creating tasty treats. Along with orchards, visitors of the Apple Festival in Central Square could enjoy other takes on apples such as fritters and pie.

"The Central Square Lions Club has been doing apple fritters here for probably close to 20-30 years. We figured the fritters are one of the best tastes of fall next to pumpkins," said June Kraus, president of the Central Square Lions Club.

The public will be hoping for similar weather in a few weekends when the Lafayette Apple Festival returns.
