Syracuse may be 3-0 in men's basketball this season, but nothing has come easy so far for Coach Adrian Autry's squad.

And it doesn't look to get easier to end this week with games on consecutive days in Brooklyn.

The Orange open the Legends Classic tonight at Barclays Center, taking on 3-1 Texas at 7 p.m. Friday, Syracuse will face either Saint Joseph's or Texas Tech.

Syracuse will look for not only a win, but breathing room in a win. Thus far, they've survived three nail-biters at the Dome — a 86-82 win over Le Moyne, a 74-72 decision over Colgate and a double-overtime 104-95 win over Youngstown State.

Texas, which is unranked but received 17 votes in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll, will be the Orange's biggest challenge to date. Since dropping a Nov. 4 decision to Ohio State in Las Vegas, the Longhorns have won three in a row, all easy wins over non-conference foes. Freshman guard Tre Johnson has paced Texas so far this season, averaging 23.5 points per game. Senior forward Arthur Kaluma is averaging 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest.

J.J. Starling leads Syracuse in scoring this season. Coming off a 28-point game in the 2-OT win over Youngstown State, Starling's average is now at 21.3 points per game. He's one of five Orange players — joining Eddie Lampkin Jr., Chris Bell, Donnie Freeman and Jyáre Davis — averaging double figures in scoring.
