Orange won't be the only color that's prevalent in the Dome on Saturday. It's anticipated a big number of Notre Dame fans will also be at the game proudly wearing their green and rooting for the Fighting Irish.

As a matter of fact, did you know Notre Dame has an alumni club that's based in Central New York? We know that Central New York bleeds Orange, but there are also quite a few fans that love the Fighting Irish.

Many of those folks are members of the University of Notre Dame Alumni Club of Central New York. The club is made up both graduates of the University of Notre Dame and fans who have settled back here.

The group holds gatherings throughout the year, holds watch parties for big athletic events, and does community service projects.

Club representatives told us they have a big group of fans attending the game Saturday, while the university sold out of its 5,000-seat ticket allotment.

While Syracuse and Notre Dame have met at neutral sites over the years, this will be the first time the Irish will visit the Dome in 19 years.

"This is our first opportunity since 2003 to have a game played in Syracuse. We've been willing to go to Yankee Stadium or the Meadowlands to see these two teams play each other, but it's much nicer to have it in our own backyard where we can host and show off the best of Central New York," said Notre Dame Alumni Association of Central New York Co-President Jude Seymour.

"It's been a tough season for Notre Dame so far, but I have the high hopes, and SU is obviously doing great, so I think it's going to be a really fun and exciting game," said Notre Dame Alumni Association of CNY Co-President Kristin Mannion, “and to have everybody here and to have everybody at the Dome, it's just going to be a really, really great weekend.”

The Notre Dame Alumni Club of Central New York plans to have a get-together at Coleman's on Tipp Hill on Friday night. On Saturday, the group will be holding a private party on the SU campus.

It shouldn't surprise people that the area has quite a few Notre Dame fans. After all, we've seen the Saint Patrick's and Irish celebrations that go on in Central New York throughout the year.
