It was about as perfect of a game as you could play as the Syracuse women's lacrosse team advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals with a convincing 20-8 victory over Loyola.

In the second meeting between the two teams, the Orange dominanted from start to finish. After Loyola would tie the game at two all, Syracuse would close out the first half on an 11-2 run. The play spearheaded by the Tyrell sisters - Emma Tyrell scoring four goals, while also recording three assists for SU.

But, while the younger sister's game was star worthy, older sister Meaghan's afternoon was historic. Meaghan scored seven goals in the Orange victory, setting a new program record for goals scored in an NCAA Tournament game in the process.

So locked in on her performance, Meaghan wasn't even aware she set a school record.

"I didn't even know that stat, I have to thanks Susie for telling me," Tyrell said after the game.

"I thought that everyone played well and that the players that we needed to step up stepped up. I’m happy with the win," said head coach Gary Gait.

The victory by SU improves the program to 19-17 all-time in NCAA Tournament play. The 20 goals scored by SU is the most the program has scored in an NCAA Tournament since 2013.

SU will now face sixth seeded Florida in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
