For the first time in seven years, the Le Moyne women's lacrosse team will not be in the Northeast Ten Championship, which is being played this weekend.

The Phins raced out to a 5-3 lead at half against Adelphi, who they've beaten twice during the regular season. The Panthers rallied back to tie the game midway through the second half, and took a two-goal lead with just under six minutes left in the game.

Le Moyne was able to cut into that lead, but couldn't get the equalizer on what ended up being their final possession of the tournament.

"It definitely stings. This is the first loss for us all season. We didn't lose last year in the four games we played, so it's a new feeling to all of us, myself included. We have to get better from today. We have to learn from today and get better," Le Moyne head coach Liz Beville said.

The final score ended up being 9-8 Adelphi. The Panthers will play in the Northeast Ten title game, while the Phins will have to wait until the NCAA DII selection show on Sunday to see where they'll land in the tournament.
