On a chilly Friday evening in Cato, the Blue Devils rallied from an early 14-point deficit to beat Southern Hills 27-21.

The first half belonged to Southern Hills, who took a 14-0 lead into the break. They were led by Will Hardy, who was breaking tackles left and right to start.

In the second half, the Blue Devils came out with some fire and quickly tied the game up. Hardy answered with a long score of his own in the fourth quarter.

The entire fourth quarter felt like an entire game, with the back-and-forth scoring and a socially distant crowd that was excited to see the action of a high school football contest.

Late in the fourth, Bo Turo turned on the afterburners for a huge score to tie things up at 21. After a big stop on defense, Cato-Meridian got the ball again and was able to score with two minutes left on a plunge by QB Konar Witkowski.

Southern Hills tried to even things up again and force overtime, but Witkowski batted down a pass on fourth down to essentially end the game.

"It feels amazing to come out with the victory when it was that close of a game. We didn't start out as well as we wanted to but we came out with the victory and that's what my team loves," Witkowski said.
