There weren’t any fans in the stands, or the loud cheering and screams of “shoot the puck!” Despite that, however, the shouts of players on the ice could be heard during the Syracuse Crunch’s season opener on Saturday.

It's been a long time since they've hit the ice. 352 days, in fact. They've been looking forward to this day for a long time, and you could tell.

They started off in the first minute against the Comets with a shorthanded goal courtesy of Gabriel Fortier.

They were just getting warmed up. The Crunch tacked on five more goals to defeat the Comets 6-1.

Next up, Syracuse will hit the road for a meeting with Rochester on Wednesday, while the Comets will play at Binghamton next Saturday.
