The only good thing about the football season going so poorly is that is won't matter for long, because basketball season is right around the corner.
The team is hitting the hardwood, practicing away just three weeks from tipping off against Bryant to open the season.
Fans have their eyes set on how this team will look in the 2020-21 season. For the last few years, SU has been firmly on the bubble. But this year, Bourama Sidibe believes the Orange has what it takes to be a team that creates madness come March.
“Every year is the same. Every year we feel we are an NCAA (Tournament) team. I think the ACC is a tough league,” said Sidibe. “Every year we’re here to prepare, to make sure we have fun, and to make sure we get into the NCAA Tournament. We’re not just sitting here. This is what everybody works for. So, if we don’t get into the tournament we work for it the following year and make sure we get in.”
Sidibe, who is a senior on this year's team, has the potential to have an extra year on ‘The Hill’.
The NCAA has extended winter sports athletes another year of eligibility. That leaves fans to wonder if players like him and Marek Dolezaj will come back for another season.
“I haven’t (thought) about it yet but it’s a good thing for young players and seniors too,” Bourama said. “For me personally, I haven’t had the conversation yet. My main focus is this year. I want to make sure I enjoy this and do what I can to help my team win the most amount of games that I can.
