Six years after his brother was drafted 18th overall by the Minnesota Wild, Baldwinsville native Luke Tuch has been selected in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft.

Luke was drafted with the 16th pick of round two, 47th overall, by the Montreal Canadiens. The 18-year old is considered a more physical player than his older brother Alex, despite being two inches shorter and 20 pounds lighter.

Tuch, watching the draft with friends and family in Boston, told Spectrum News Monday he's planning to play his freshman season at Boston University this year, and then see what happens. Alex, who played two seasons across town at Boston College, has become one of the top forwards on the Las Vegas Golden Knights' roster over the past three years, helping the Knights reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2018 and the Western Conference Finals this season.

The younger Tuch has been one of the rising stars with the U.S. National Team Development Program since 2018, producing 53 points (25g, 28a) over two seasons. He also scored 62 points in 63 games for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres 16U AAA squad in 2017-18.
