Fans got the chance to see the Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team for the first time this weekend.

Orange supporters gathered at the Carrier Dome to attend the fifth annual Hoops N Scoops, where visitors got an opportunity to see their favorite players on and off the court.

Following a scrimmage, the athletes and fans attended an ice cream social meet-and-greet, where fans could get photos and autographs.

For many fans, it was a chance to meet Tiana Mangakahia, the star guard who will be sidelined this season as she continues to fight breast cancer.

Her fight continues to inspire her teammates.

"We always have a chip on our shoulder, now we gotta play for T. She plays nitty-gritty, always gives it her all, so we gotta play for her the same way," said senior guard Gabrielle Cooper.

Following Sunday’s scrimmage, both fans and players say they’re confident for the upcoming season.

The Orange opens their campaign on November 5, at home against Ohio University.
