West Genesee is taking on Corcoran. This is Corcoran's first year in the growing league of unified basketball — a sport that brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities.

"I mean these kids are all-stars going down the hallway. We have great student support at West Genesee," said Mike McCarthy, West Genesee Unified Basketball coach.

The Wildcats have the veteran advantage. Chase Salmons and his buddy Ryan Washo have been on the team for three years.

"I don't want Ryan to graduate and leave me cause then who's going to help me," Salmons said.

"I gotta go to college next year. We still got all of this year," Washo said.

On the court, Ryan, Chase and the rest of their teammates rely on one another.

"I enjoy playing with him. He gives me all the assists."

Which is important when adversity strikes.

Ultimately, the Wildcats came out on top.
