It’s the start of a big week for Syracuse athletics in New York City.

It started with a top-20 women’s basketball battle in Westchester Wednesday night when the 18th ranked Orange took down 20th ranked Texas A&M 75-65. Tiana Mangakahia led the way with 26 points on 10/16 shooting from the field.

On Thursday, eyes shift to the World’s Most Famous Arena as the 15th ranked men’s basketball square off with old rival UConn in the 2k Classic semi-finals at Madison Square Garden.  Syracuse will play again Friday night against either Iowa or 13th ranked Oregon.

The week will be capped off by the battle in the Bronx on Saturday, when the 12th ranked Orange football team takes on 3rd ranked Notre Dame in one of the most meaningful games for Syracuse in nearly two decades.

With a win, Syracuse keeps itself in contention for a College Football Playoff New Year’s Six bowl game and likely knocks the Irish out of the college football playoff picture.  It would also place national relevance on the Syracuse football program that hasn’t been seen in years.

Spectrum News will be bringing coverage all week from New York beginning Thursday afternoon and continuing through late Saturday night.

Spectrum News will also host a live half-hour football pregame show from Yankee Stadium Saturday starting at noon.
