Kate made her way to Fayetteville four years ago to be a sports reporter at Spectrum News. Although she didn’t know anyone when she arrived, she now has friends that she considers family and has formed strong relationships with the coaches and players she reports on season after season.
Before joining Spectrum News, Kate worked the sidelines for football and baseball games at Buckeye Cable Sports Network in Ohio and covered UND hockey and football in North Dakota. In her time here at Spectrum News, Kate has received the Press Club Award for Spectrum News’ weekly football show First and Ten.
Kate is inspired by athletes that have overcome adversity and have fought hard to get where they are today. Though she’s covered countless meaningful stories, one that comes to mind is about Paul Shafner, who won his battle with cancer and now has the privilege of coaching his son, Jake, on the football field.
It should come as no surprise that Kate met her fiancé playing on a softball team in Liverpool. They’re saying “I do” this winter and look forward to continuing to spoil their two fur children. When not reporting on sports, you can find Kate exploring the Green Lakes in Fayetteville or dining at her favorite restaurant, Pasquale’s.
