As someone who moved across the country as a kid, Erik is grateful to have called central New York home for the last decade. Since moving to the area, Erik has met great friends, including the woman who is now his wife, and welcomed his daughter, Elsie. Enjoying such major life milestones in central New York has left Erik feeling very connected to the local community.

Before joining Spectrum News in 2014, Erik served as the sports director for both WICZ-TV in Binghamton and the NBC affiliate in Flint, Michigan. Erik has had the pleasure of covering Jon “Bones” Jones’ UFC Light Heavyweight Championship run, numerous NCAA Tourney runs and even the only hockey championship in Binghamton hockey history in 2011. Covering local sports is Erik’s passion, and discovering great people with awesome sports stories is one of his favorite things about his job.

If you’re somehow questioning Erik’s commitment to sports, this story should convince you. When Erik’s wife, Kate, went into labor during the NCAA championships (the title game against UConn), they waited for the game to end before heading to the hospital!
