Katelynn Ulrich spent the last two years getting to know Syracuse well — she covered the New York State Fair for 13 consecutive days. She stays connected to the local community with volunteer work and exploring Central New York’s nature.

Katelynn joined Spectrum News three years ago, previously working with our Albany sister station. Now she’s the Syracuse Press Club’s 2019 A. Brohman Roth Newcomer Award winner.

She’s inspired by ordinary people doing incredible things like allowing reporters to catch an intimate glimpse of their grievances and triumphs. There are many opportunities to cover meaningful stories but a five-part series examining New York State’s laws for domestic violence were some of the most rewarding for Katelynn.

In her spare time, Katelynn hangs with her cat Leon and adventures across New York on day trips.
