There was an intense fire call for the Utica Fire Department Saturday afternoon.
The chief tells Spectrum News that they were called to Mary Street around 3 p.m.
The flames forced six people to jump from the second floor, three of which were children.
"It was a great community effort as well,” said Utica Fire Chief Scott Ingersoll. “When firefighters pulled up, several neighbors had run over to help some of the people that had jumped from the structure. They did attempt to catch some of the children as well. So it was a great community effort as well as an effort from Utica Firefighters."
Eight people in all were brought to the hospital.
The chief says three of them have serious injuries.
No firefighters were hurt.
The flames were so intense that the siding melted from a neighboring house.
The cause is still under investigation.
