Governor Andrew Cuomo briefly touched on bail reform in his New York state budget proposals on Tuesday, saying the law may still see some changes.
This could include changes to discovery reform, which some local lawmakers say violates the privacy of first responders.
At the Clifton Park Town Board meeting Tuesday, state Sen. Jim Tedisco spoke about his bill to protect the privacy of emergency service personnel.
The board also voted to pass a resolution in support of Tedisco's legislation.
Republican Town Supervisor Phil Barrett said he had received a fair amount of criticism of the laws from constituents.
"We've been hearing from many, many of our residents concerned about the changes that have taken place,” Barrett said. “They would like to see some changes now to the law that was implemented January 1. We should protect our first responders who protect us every single day."
