The legislative session is over, but lawmakers left a cliffhanger for New Yorkers: How they will pay for a gaping hole in the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s budget now that Gov. Kathy Hochul put congestion pricing on hold.
“I think many people were surprised,” Shontell Smith told Capital Tonight. Smith is a partner at Tusk Strategies and former chief of staff to state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins. “I believe that it was courageous of her to suspend congestion pricing; I know I [don’t] have…the common view on this. But I think that [it was the] right action, wrong time.”
Smith discussed the legislative session with Capital Tonight host Susan Arbetter.
