New York Gov. Kathy Hochul vetoed several notable bills late in the year, including the Grieving Families Act.
But one vetoed bill that hasn’t received much attention is the Tropical Deforestation-Free Procurement Act, sponsored by state Sen. Liz Krueger and Assemblymember Pat Fahy.
The bill, if it had passed, would have ensured that New York state doesn’t contribute to climate change in its procurement process.
Krueger, who also chairs the Senate Finance Committee, joined Capital Tonight to discuss what’s next for this piece of legislation, as well as for the NY Heat Act and the Climate Change Superfund Act, which she also sponsors.
Neither of the latter two bills passed the Assembly during the last session.
