New York has very aggressive goals to help meet the requirements of its 2019 climate law, the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. But according to a report by state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, New York needs to generate more renewable energy to meet those goals, one of which is moving toward 70% renewable energy by 2030.
Currently, New York uses 29% renewable power. The comptroller’s report follows a warning from the operator of the state’s electricity grid that New York City could see energy shortfalls in the near future. Comptroller DiNapoli joined Susan Arbetter, host of Capital Tonight, to discuss the report.
