A little less than $22 million in federal funding is going towards Head Start projects in New York, including places in Western New York and Rochester.

Head Start programs aim to give low-income children access to developmental programs and support services for families.

Chautauqua Opportunities in Dunkirk is getting a little more than $5.1 million, and the Niagara Falls City School District will receive around $2.25 million.

In Rochester, Pathstone Corporation will get more than $2.4 million.

“Head Start programs ensure that young children are equipped with the resources they need to be set up for success later in life,” said Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. “This federal funding will help ensure that young children and their families have access to high-quality early childhood education and support services.”

The money comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
