Late last week, a Western New York Supreme Court judge ruled that an executive order mandating quarantine for people infected with a highly contagious communicable disease violated the state and federal constitutions and declared it null and void.
The lawsuit was brought by some Republican state legislators and the group Uniting New York.
State Sen. George Borello, one of the plaintiffs, said the lawsuit was important to declare the quarantine rules unconstitutional and illegal because it violated the separation of powers.
