For the month of April, all New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits.

Families receiving an emergency allotment will now receive a minimum supplement of $95 per month as long as the supplemental payments continue.

State officials are citing the pandemic for the move.

Officials say as of this past January, there were nearly 3 million New Yorkers receiving SNAP benefits.

That's a 7.3% increase compared to January 2020.
