BUFFALO, N.Y. – After several delays, former Congressman Chris Collins has officially reported to federal prison in Florida.

Collins, who pleaded guilty to insider trading and lying to federal agents, was supposed to report to federal prison in Pensacola, Fla., on March 17 to serve a 26-month prison sentence.

His legal team fought successfully to delay his sentence, citing Collins' health and risk of getting the coronavirus.

The federal prosecutor in the case wrote a letter to the judge last week, saying the Federal Bureau of Prisons has made significant changes to keep inmates safe, and that further extensions aren't necessary since Collins says he is in good health.
